I should have updated this a LONG time ago: I revised my Kirby's Dreamland review, way back in April. Whoops!

Sorry about the lack of updates lately. I'll get back to working on the site eventually. Right now I've been working on real-life stuff, and generally just have been being lazy about this.

April 27, 2010

Sometimes it's fun to write at length about inconsequential things. I really have no other explanation as to why I felt compelled to write an entire article about Super Mario-themed candies and the collectable tin they came in. At least it's somewhat video game related.

I heavily revised my Legendary Starfy review, again, despite previously saying I was happy with it. It's different enough to be worth reading even if you already read the review in its previous form. This time, though, I am quite happy with it. Hopefully there won't be any more need for revisions on it.

I am in the process of rewriting my Spyro the Dragon and Spyro 2 reviews, the reviews most in need of heavy revision. After that, I will be moving on with new reviews and other site content. I have no intention of changing (or removing) any of my other reviews, even if they aren't that great.

I also added IncognitO to the links page.

A new review: Prince of Persia: The Fallen King for DS. Interestingly, this game now holds the unique distinction of holding the lowest star rating of any game I've reviewed. It's a shame, because there were some good ideas, and at first I didn't want to hate the game. Unfortunately by the time I had beaten the damn thing it had more or less forced me to hate it. Really, quite a shame!

March 15, 2010

Hey, sorry about the long hiatus! I haven't had access to the computer I use for site stuff for the last couple of months. Thankfully, I'm back now, and I've returned with a review for Wario Land 4. I may have some more updates involving this game in the future. Stay tuned!

January 30, 2010

I revised old reviews a bit more. I added a paragraph on exploration to the Breath of Fire 2 review and fixed some spelling errors and word choices in my Drawn to Life review. However, most notably I rewrote more than half of my Legendary Starfy review and am now actually quite happy with it! Go, read it! It's much different than I had it before. :)

January 19, 2010

Wow, happy New Year! It's been quite a year! Well, I do have some business to report:

First of all I went through some of my old reviews and revised some things.
-For my Spyro review, I added another half of a star. That review could probably use some revising. Not surprising, as it WAS my first review.
-For my Breath of Fire 2 review, I revised it a bit. Somehow, I originally failed to mention two of the game's most glaring flaws, the high encounter rate and the bad translation. I added notes on those and also got rid of a few parts of the review I didn't like.
- Legendary Starfy got some fleshing out with some extra paragraphs and other revisions. I tried to give a better idea of how the game actually plays, which is something I feel I need to do a better job of in my reviews.

I certainly have a long way to go as a reviewer. With 9 reviews so far, I still feel that the best, by far, is my ICO review. Some of the others aren't very good, I realise. I would delete the Kirby's Dreamland review out-right if it weren't for the screenshots. But I do feel that I'm improving, and I have more reviews planned for the future.

With the new year upon us, I also have some other ideas for non-review site content, but we'll have to wait and see how that pans out.

Also, I have officially entered the blogosphere. I don't know how regularly I'll be able to update, it's mostly just an experiment. Also, I'll try to make the blog less ugly eventually.

December 11, 2009

Sorry about the general incoherence of my last update. I don't know what came over me. Well, I guess that much Kool-Aid can alter a man's mind. I also apologize for how infrequently I update, about once a month. I would really like to update more often, but you see I am a rather lazy individual. I also have more pressing things to worry about, like life.

But enough apoligizing! I have an update, but first I must tell you a story. You see, once upon a time I was a HUGE ANIME NERD. In fact, it wasn't really that long ago. Thankfully, I've gotten more discerning in my tastes since then and have realized that anime is in no way inherently superior to western animation. The fact that I ever held such a belief is a constant source of personal shame.

Obviously I don't read nearly as much manga or watch as much anime now as I once did. In fact, there's only one current anime that I still watch on a regular basis: Fullmetal Alchemist. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that new subbed episodes are streamed FOR FREE from Funimation's site, but I still find the series worth following as I still hold some amount of respect for its source material.

Which brings us to the real update: a review of Fullmetal Alchemist. I tried to stop it from coming across as love-gushing and was actually surprised how readily I was able to admit to its faults. Really, I would definitely recommend it! But please note that the article covers the manga only. I plan to expand it in some way to include the animes and movie in the future, possibly even a page on the characters. Keep in mind that this review applies mostly to the manga, as the animes and especially the movie deviate from the source in some significant ways.

I also fixed the Other Writings page, sorta. It could still stand to be improved, but it at least looks a LITTLE better, and there's no more of that horrible iWeb code.

November 7, 2009

Oh man, I really need to fix the Other Writings page. The code is still a mess and it wouldn't hurt to make it more attractive. Anyways, I have a new Other Writings! Suprise surprise! Everybody likes food, right? Kool-Aid is food, yeah? Kool-Aid Singles! Woot! I actually wrote the article about a month ago, but it was going to be part of a bigger project that I decided wouldn't be such a great idea. And if you read the article, you'll probably see why (yeah, it's kinda stupid.)

In related news, I'm a terrible photographer.

October 18, 2009

Hey, I've got more reviews! Drawn to Life and The Legendary Starfy!

I've been on a bit of a bad game kick lately (although I wouldn't call Legendary Starfy a bad game) so I'll going to see if I can play a good game to review next. Maybe I'll break the 3 star record high on my reviews!

October 07, 2009

A review for Kirby's Dreamland with screenshots! It's a rather short review, but there's not alot to say about some games.

September 24, 2009

Yeah, it's been awhile, but I've got a new review: Magic Pengel: Quest for Color. I wish, just once, that I could find an obscure game on my own that's actually good.

I never was able to get screenshots from Spore. I'll try again eventually, but for now I'll just add it to the review page as-is. I'm also working on the links page.

I'm trying something new with the banners. If it works, it will be cool, but if it doesn't, well, back to same old one.

August 16, 2009

New links button. I'll update my links page soon, I promise!

July 27, 2009

Just for fun, I've started a new sub-section called "TV Time" under the reviews section. It's got capsule reviews of TV shows I've seen every episode of.

There's also a new Spore review, but it's not finished, as I haven't added screenshots yet. But it's still here if you want to read it.

July 25, 2009

Holy crap, I've gone almost a month without an update. Not very good for a fledgling site with not much content yet. Anyways, like Santa Claus, I come bearing gifts. Specifically, reviews. Three, in fact! Breath of Fire 2. Spyro 2. Ico. Bon apetit!

June 29, 2009

One whole week late, I bring you Spyro the Dragon: The Review! I don't have any screen-capturing equipment, so no screenshots for you!

June 27, 2009

What's this? An update? Well, sort of. I added some more glorious forum ranting to the "Other Writings" section. So you get to read my hemming and hawing over a Japanese comic book series you've probably never heard of! Fun, fun fun! It's also actually the first page I've done entirely in html on my own, so it's not quite as spiffy as some of my other pages, but it's readable.

In even less exciting news, I've changed the back button from text to a grapic on most pages.

June 24, 2009

Thanks again to Codie, who provided me with the larger image of Lugae for the "Other Writings" button.

June 22, 2009

Front page got an overhaul. Thanks to Codiekitty for fixing the code and Flying Omelette for telling me how to anchor backgrounds. I'll fix the other pages eventually when I've got time.

I've got a review in the works, but I probably won't have it ready by today.

June 21, 2009

First of all, many, many thanks to Flying Omelette for hosting my site. Now you'll all get to see into the dark recesses of my mind. Why "Greybob's Igloo?" Well, uh, Walrusman = Igloo... it made sense at the time.

This is my second attempt at a personal website, the first attempt being when I was 12 years old. So, don't make fun of it too much, or it might kill itself.

Also, please inform me if there's any really big problems with the site. Non-working or broken links, images, videos, or anything else.

As for the contents of this site, I'll be posting reviews, mostly video-games, but possibly of other things, too. Right now, though, I don't have any, and as Mr. Saturn will politely point out if you try to take a peek, that section is under construction. However, I should have at least one FULL REVIEW by Monday! Yes! Aren't you all so lucky?

For now, enjoy this humorous article from the Port Saiid forums that I wrote mocking trends in the modern gaming industry. Or, maybe you'd prefer to take a look at my strange and random MS Paint scribblings?

Other things for you to look forward to in the future of this site: I'll be archiving that Poketymology thread I started over at Port Saiid, with added explanation, insight, and pictures. Also: Pictures of a banana that looks like Giygas! Now, that's something to get excited about!

Note that the links button doesn't work yet. I'll fix that soon. Anyone who wants to swap links can contact me with the e-mail button below.
